Visit The San Francisco Civic Center Neighborhood
Just 1.2 miles away via Market Street, San Francisco’s Civic Center neighborhood boasts one of our city’s most impressive buildings, City Hall. City Hall is located at 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place and is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“You have in San Francisco this magnificent Civic Center crowned
by a City Hall which I have never seen anywhere equaled.” – Joseph Strauss
San Francisco Asian Art Museum
Next to City Hall, you’ll find the world-famous Asian Art Museum. House in an equally impressive historic building, the museum draws visitors from all parts of the globe. Their mission is:
“To lead a diverse global audience in discovering the unique material, aesthetic, and intellectual achievements of Asian art and culture.”
San Francisco Library
Also in the Civic Center neighborhood is one of the most beautiful libraries in the country, our very own San Francisco Library. Patrons can borrow books (of course!), utilize the “Ask a Librarian” service, reserve a meeting room or exhibition area, use the computers, and simply wander around, taking in the beauty of this historic building.
